Jewellery Care & Information

In order to help keep and maintain your jewellery Allure recommends keeping your jewellery in a jewellery roll or a jewellery box between wearings, away from the air & not touching any other piece of jewellery. Do not store your jewellery in direct sunlight or other extreme temperatures as this may damage your jewellery. Avoid exposing jewellery to chemicals and acids such as household chemicals, perfume, tan, cosmetics and hairspray as the products will quickly cause the jewellery to discolour and disintegrate.

Take care to protect your jewellery from impact against hard surfaces and avoid contact with abrasive surfaces. Gemstones can scratch other gemstones and wear away at precious metals. Therefore, we advise to avoid stacking those rings, bracelets or necklaces that would be vulnerable to such abrasion.

Costume Jewellery Care and Cleaning

Jewellery tarnish may occur as a result of oxidation, caused by the interaction of metal, silver or gold plated costume jewellery with elements such as oxygen or sulphur as well as with certain acids.

To keep your costume jewellery tarnish-free, frequently clean your costume jewellery with antibacterial soap diluted in water. Thoroughly dry your silver jewellery after exposure to water. Store your costume jewellery in a dry container or a plastic bag with anti-tarnish paper. Use of a polish cloth, paste or other strong jewellery cleaner is not recommended.

Silver Jewellery Care and Cleaning

Tarnish can occur on silver jewellery over time. This is a product of oxidation, caused by the interaction of silver jewellery with certain elements such as oxygen or sulphur as well as with certain acids. So, always store silver jewellery in an airtight container or bag.
To keep your silver tarnish-free, frequently clean your silver in a mild dishwashing liquid diluted in water. Thoroughly dry your silver jewellery after exposure to water.
To remove tarnish or oxidation film from silver you can use fresh, uncontaminated commercial silver dip liquid, a non-abrasive polish or polish cloth. Make sure there are no loose stones or parts. Thoroughly rinse jewellery after cleaning, and dry with a soft cloth until it's completely dry.

Luckily most sterling silver jewellery is now also Rhodium plated which protects the jewellery and prevents this oxidation tarnishing process.
